| Dear Van Gogh Museum's staff,
My name is Satoru Maetani, I'm interested in seeing pictures painted by Van
Gogh.
I am Japanese. My job is the ophthalmologist(eye surgeon) in Kyoto and Hiroshima.
Just now,Sonpo Japan staff hold Gogh＆Flowers exhibition in Tokyo
Museum.
I looked your museum of sunflowers(F458) on 28 Sep. in Tokyo Museum.
I noticed strange things. In Tokyo Museum,staff placed in front of La Berceuse of Chicago
Museum(F506), and the left sideof Tokyo Museum of sunflowers(F457) and the right side of yourmuseum of
sunflowers(F458)（⇒gogh41.jpg）.
But I think the two pictures(La Berceuse of left side and right side
sunflower's pictures)
evidently differed in Sketch showing La Berceuse flanked by still lifes
with sunflowers
(a letter to Teo of 22 May 1889)（⇒gogh109.jpg).
In Sketch showing La Berceuse flanked by still
lifes with sunflowers,
I think the part of left side mean 14 sunflowers of pot picture the
background yellow,
and the part of right side mean 12 sunflowers of pot picture the background
blue.
In practice,I compared scetch of left side with 14 sunflowers of pot
picture the background yellow,
And,I sticked red circle the same meaning of sunflowers （⇒yellow1.ipg）.
I tried the same things in scetch of right side with 12 sunflowers of pot
picture the background
blue（⇒blue31.jpg）.
Surprisingly,the two pictures accorded the each parts(the left side and the
right side).
This thing surelly showed the right side part mean 12 sunflowers of pot
picture the background blue
(F455,F456).
I made contact with the Sonpo Japan staff (Mr. ○○ ○○)
for several times.
But, he told our museum of triptych exhibition imitated Van Gogh Museum
and Chicago Museum.
He told your museum could not borrow 12 sunflowers of pot picture the
background blue
(F455,F456).
And so,this exhibition is correct.And,Sonpo Japan staff need not explain
Gogh's triptych.
But,I do not think the Sonpo Japan staff need to explain the correct
triptych of Gogh's thought.
A lot of audience mistake in this exhibition is
only correct in Japan.
Please help us(Fan of Van Gogh in Japan)! Please!
PLease conect the Sonpo Japan staff and tell them the change of
exhibition.

ゴッホ美術館
スタッフの方に
私は、前谷悟といいます。 ゴッホ作品を観ることに興味を持ってます。 私は日本人です。 京都と広島で、眼科医として働いてます。 現在日本の東京の損保ジャパン東郷青児美術館でゴッホと花展が行われています。
貴美術館のひまわり（Ｆ４５８）も飾られ、私も９月28日に見て来ました。
そこで、不思議なことに気づきました。損保ジャパン美術館では、シカゴ美術館のLa
Berceuse
の向かって、左に損保ジャパン東郷青児美術館のひまわりが、右に貴美術館のひまわりが
配置されてました（⇒gogh41.jpg）。
しかし、私が思うに、1889年５月22日にゴッホがテオに宛てた書簡592に描かれた挿絵では、
La
Berceuseの左右に来るひまわりの絵は、明らかに異なるように思われます（⇒gogh109.jpg)。
挿絵で描かれているひまわりの絵で、La Berceuseの向かって、左に来る絵は、背景が黄色で、壷に14本入ったひまわりの絵で、右に来る絵は、背景が青で、12本のひまわりの絵ではないでしょうか？
実際に、書簡の挿絵の左の部分と背景が黄色のヒマワリの絵を比較してみました。同じひまわり
と思われるものに○をつけてみました（⇒yellow1.ipg）。
同様のことを、書簡の挿絵の右の部分と背景が青のヒマワリの絵で行ってみました（⇒blue31.jpg）。
驚くほど一致すると思います。
私は、このことを損保ジャパン東郷青児美術館の学芸員の方（○○ ○○さん）に数回も連絡しましたが、損保ジャパン美術館の展示は、ゴッホ美術館やシカゴ美術館の展示をまねしただけだ。
彼は、背景が青で12本のヒマワリ（Ｆ４５５,Ｆ４５６）は、ゴッホ美術館でも借りることはできなかった。 だから、この展示は正しいのだ。損保ジャパン美術館では、正しいゴッホの三幅対の説明なんて必要ないのだ。 しかし、私はそうは思いません、ゴッホが考えた正しい三幅対の説明は必要だと思います。 このままでは、日本中の観客が、今展示されている「三幅対」のみが正しいものであると勘違いしてしまいます。
どうか、我々（日本のゴッホファン）を助けてください、どうか。
前谷悟損保ジャパンのスタッフに連絡を取って、展示を改めるように言ってください。 |
私は、最後まで諦めずに、自分のできる限りのことをしていくつもりです。それが、結果的に認められなくても、自分がそうしたことに誇りを持てるからです。まだまだ、頑張ります。
有名美術館から返事がきました。
